In the photography basket there are a variety of photography genres that an individual can choose from as bird photography is one of them, as it has attracted many through passion and to capture rare moments. A special set of skills need to be developed as an individual partakes the activity as it is challenging yet fun as the photographer need the best shot to be taken. Being calm and quiet needs to be the first thing that a bird photographer needs to know and understand as to have the best pictures taken of the birds in their natural habitat. Loud noises can make the birds to move hence not achieving the goal of having a perfect picture that can be used in books and magazines. Loud steps and voices may spook the birds from their natural habitat hence leading to the birds fleeing to other areas. Whistling has been seen as an appropriate way to attract birds in order to have the shots taken whereas walking towards the birds in high speeds lead to the birds being scared and fleeing to other places.

When going to a new environment the photographer should ensure that he or she has surveyed the surrounding environment in order to familiarize with the surrounding. The photographer should not reach into the surrounding  and run towards the birds that are visible or being heard but the photographer should observe what is happening and what is being fed on by the birds. Learning the bird's habit and understanding them is halfway understanding their behavior. Marking a usual spot that birds do their activities is easy as the birds have a habit of repeating the same things at the same place such as singing, feeding and drinking. A photographer with the best photography gear should understand the routes and spots that are being used by the birds as the birds with time will be able to understand that the photographer is not a threat and can come closer. As the birds are flying closer to the photographer thus helping with the clarity of the picture taken.

The birds cannot be silent as they sing and communicate with their species. Birds from the same species call their fellow birds from the same species using songs hence a photographer is at a better position to understand and know what the birds mean in their communication. The photographer is able to know and locate the birds easily hence take the best pictures also learning the songs sung by the favorite species makes the time of the photographer with the entry level camera easy in locating the birds. The best opportunity to take a picture of the birds emerges as the photographer calls out the male species as they can appear in order to guide their territory making the best moment to have a picture taken available.
